GlobalABC - Knowledge Platform

Background
The Global ABC Knowledge Platform was a site feature I worked on in 2025, where users can explore curated resources, tools and insights supporting the decarbonisation of buildings and construction.
Objective
The client had very specific expectations for the Knowledge Platform page, particularly because they felt the current website layout lacked a modern look and feel. These thoughts were not initially shared with us, the project team, which led to some difficulties in the design process. My initial proposals were rejected because they were too similar to the existing website. After discussing this feedback with the client, the team (including the developers and project manager) agreed we needed to propose something eye-catching and very different than what we had expected.

Approach
UX was not a primary focus in the design specs, however I identified and improved on areas I believed would enhance the overall user experience, and would fulfill the client's wishes for the project. I created a clearer structure for discovering and exploring resources, where the page naturally guides users from the search to the featured and trending content. Content was organized into distinct sections with the help of clear headings with descriptive labels, and calls to action.
To ensure an engaging experience, I researched current design trends and emphasized on animations, bold colors and rounded corners in the final prototypes. I incorporated simple hover interactions, which provided the design with a polished and elegant look and feel.
These improvements make the platform easier to navigate, visually engaging, and more effective at connecting users with relevant resources.
The design system
For this small-scape project feature, a complex design system wasn't necessary. However, I created reusable components for buttons, inputs and cards, while organizing colors, spacings, widths, and the typography in the variables tab.
